FINDING THE RIGHT INTERNSHIP

Throughout the past 4 years of my college career I have been talked to, for what it feels like, NONSTOP about internships. Not only from my professors but from my parents, relatives, friends, etc. And quite frankly I never gave them much thought until this past year. Which with COVID has made things quite difficult. But thankfully, many companies have adjusted quite well to the new “norm” and have helped make college internships successful.

In this weeks blog assignment, my professor advised us to check out the website Riipen to help give us an idea as to what positions are available. Riipen is a site that allows students to connect with professionals to gain knowledge and skills in their desired careers by performing real company projects. We were asked to select a company project that stood out to us and I am blown away as to how simple it was to find a company that clicked. Why didn’t they show us this in high school!?

A company that stood out to me, as I love to be active and healthy all while helping others do the same, is called Breakaway Hoops located in New York, New York. Breakaway Hoops is an organization in which they provide premium camps, leagues , clinics, and remote training services to families and children throughout New York City and beyond. They seek to foster greater and wholesome individuals physically, mentally, and emotionally to live healthy, happy, productive lives. I swear this job was made for me!

Breakaway Hoops is looking for a motivated and experienced individual to help take charge of their social media and online presence. They will be responsible for keeping the organizations social media pages up to date on programs they are holding. They will also be providing administrative services to the Commissioner and Marketing/Sales Staff; assist in camps, leagues, clinic activities. Three of their top requirements for the position include being a recent graduate or current student of a 4 year college/university, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and ability to work individually and as a team. If that doesn’t scream my name, I don’t know what does!

Why this position is appealing to me, as I stated before, is because I stand for everything they are about. Being healthy and active is a major part of living a long happy life. And I truly believe that working with a team to reach your goals helps keep you motivated and on track. I also meet all of their requirements as I have volunteered at many charitable events, and have helped my current place of employment with schedule making, and putting together teamwork activites. And I love how they already seem up to date with social media trends, such as having a Facebook page, Instagram page, and Twitter! So that way I could come in and help the company prosper to further opportunities to help it succeed. How does it get much better than that?
